  1. Growing up as the youngest of 4 boys in suburban New Jersey, Bruce Springsteen was a major presence in my life from an early age.
“If I Should Fall Behind” is one of the greatest and most accurate songs written about the challenges and opportunities presented by a marriage/a committed long term relationship.
When my wife and I got married 10 years ago, we had my brother, Ralph, read the lyrics to this song during the wedding ceremony.
‘We swore we’d travel side by side, we’d help each other stay in stride. But each lover’s steps fall so differently. But I’ll wait for you. And if I should fall behind, wait for me.’
