  1. This session was held on June 6, 2020…in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic and the social unrest around the country. I chose the song “Culture War” by Arcade Fire because it perfectly conveyed how I felt/feel about the extreme division and polarization in our country and how resentful I am to be swept up in it. The song is brilliant (and so is the band).
‘You want it? You got it. Here’s your culture war. You want it? Now you’ve got it. So tell me, what’s it for?’

  2. All 4 of us in the session are in our early to mid 40s, and married with young kids. We are adults and life is complicated. “Little Cream Soda” is one of my favorite White Stripes songs. Musically, it is gnarly. Jack White shreds and Meg White just pounds away on the drums. The song just drives you forward. Lyrically, the song is written from the perspective of an adult dealing with the realities of life yearning for the simpler days of his childhood.
“And there was a time when all I wanted was my ice cream colder and a little cream soda. Oh well, oh well and a wooden box and an alley full of rocks was all I had to care about. Oh well, oh well, oh well. Now my mind is filled with rubber tires and forest fires. And whether I’m a liar and lots of other situations at which God screams to me there’s nothing left for me to tell you.’
